Canyon Light Greeting Card

$5.00

Recently, I moved from my childhood home up into the mountains about an hour and a half away. I drove that route an unimaginable amount of times during the chaos of moving. One view during the drive, as you round a corner, is a canyon with steep granite walls on one side. It appears out of nowhere, it seems, and if you reach that corner when the sun is just right, the light bounces off the mountains on either side of this canyon. It makes the whole thing shine in a way that I could never come close to replicating. On one such drive, the light was amazing. I thought about it all the way home and immediately after getting there, I sat down and painted this from memory. It is not at all how it really looks, since I didn’t use a reference photo, but the feeling is similar.

Specs:

Folded 5x7 card, printed on high quality matte paper.

Blank and uncoated on the inside.

Each card comes with an envelope.

Also available as a 5x7 print.

Original is gouache on 140lb watercolor paper, painted in Feb 2021.
