Shadowed Arch Greeting Card

$5.00

This piece is a companion to Winter Sun, a series I created for my senior drawing class in college. At the time, I was just figuring out my fascination with light and shadow. It has since transformed into a fascination of light and color, but in this beginning stage I searched for places and photos I had taken that had an interesting relationship with light and dark. This old bridge is near my childhood home, and was built in 1925. It is only open for pedestrians now, and spans a “river” that is more of a seasonal stream. The contrast between light and dark visible in the negative space created by the bridge design was so appealing to me that I had to draw it.

Specs:

Folded 5x7 card, printed on high quality matte paper.

Blank and uncoated on the inside.

Each card comes with an envelope.

Also available as a 5x7 print.

Original is charcoal and white chalk pastel on 300lb cold pressed paper, drawn in March 2017.
